Naked Rowers in the News!

Rowers Roger Haines and Tom Lee took to the airwaves today to tell listeners of BBC Southern Counties Radio why they’ll be rowing 4,500 miles across the pirate-strewn and shark-infested Indian Ocean – naked in a tiny self-built wooden rowing boat.
Thanks to their oceanic escapade, the daring duo, from Teddington, Middlesex, are on course to fundraise 100k for charity.
Landlubber PR Superstar is at the helm of the lads’ PR campaign, which has already seen them splashed across the front and the inside of The Richmond and Twickenham Times.
The Richmond Magazine, Living in Richmond and Kew magazine, and Totally Richmond and Twickenham magazine will all carry features on Roger and Tom and their Indian Ocean Race 2009 in forthcoming issues. Radio Jackie will interview the boys next month too. Their national PR campaign kicks off in earnest in early 2009. Keep your eyes and ears peeled!
Big-hearted local businesses have rallied round to lend their support and help cover part of the costs for the ambitious challenge — but more financial help is needed to ensure the fundraiser stays afloat and can hit the high seas in April.
PR Superstar is taking care of the plucky pair’s local and national PR gratis; whilst our old shipmates Media Wisdom Photography and Real Eyes Marketing are kindly donating their first-class photographic and marketing skills.

But why are they rowing naked? Roger and Tom will row naked for much of their 105-day journey to avoid chafing! Ouch!
